Overview
Applications are now open for the 2026 Mercer County Student Internship Program. This program provides high school and college students with hands-on experience in county government while building professional skills, exploring career pathways, and participating in structured training and cohort-based learning throughout the summer.
New for 2026: Applicants must apply to ONE (1) specific internship placement within a department, with the option to indicate one alternate choice for consideration. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the complete internship description before selecting a placement and submitting an application.
Applicants must create and register for an account in the Primepoint application portal and apply to one of the internship opportunities listed.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Must be a high school or college student
Must be at least 15 years of age at the start of the program
Participants under the age of 18 must submit working papers in accordance with New Jersey Department of Labor regulations
Must reside in Mercer County or attend a high school, college, or university located within Mercer County
Exceptions may be made based on departmental needs and operational considerations
Program Dates:
College Internship Program: May 18 – July 10, 2026
High School Internship Program: July 6 – August 28, 2026
Application Deadline: March 27, 2026
Please note: The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office administers its own internship program and is not included in this application system.
