Overview

The Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (VTC) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Research Specialist/Data Analyst. Key duties for this position include: 1) Provides data analysis, visualization, and other research support as needed on multiple externally-funded projects utilizing statistical and geospatial analysis tools and skills; and 2) Compiles and summarizes research results, and develops technical reports and publications as required for projects including assisting with journal article submissions and the preparation of conference or professional presentations.

Qualified candidates should have strong data management, statistical/analytical, and geospatial analysis skills, with the ability to independently design and develop tools or models to achieve the research objectives, interpret analysis results, and present findings to the project teams, project sponsors and external audiences depending on the project. Applicants should possess a Master’s degree, preferably in planning, data informatics, geospatial science or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Experience with data management and analytical/statistical software such as Excel, R, SAS, Tableau and other similar software is strongly preferred.
