The Choose New Jersey, Inc. Business Development team seeks a collaborative and detail-oriented graduate student interested in growing New Jersey’s economy. The position will work across departments to create market assessments, customize business proposals, and provide information on state resources. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and take the lead in maintaining the organization’s data and ranking information. This role will report to the Director of Research and Strategic Partnerships and is a hybrid opportunity with one day a week in-person at the Choose New Jersey office in Newark, NJ during normal business hours. The role is from April – December 2024 and could be extended.

Responsibilities

·        Supports the Business Development Officers with industry data, workforce development reports, academic landscape, and tax analysis to support responses to clients.

·        Manages the Choose New Jersey database of new businesses to the state.

·        Provides insight to the management team to drive sound decision-making.

·        Performs other duties as required.

Experience

·        Enrollment in a master’s degree program with a focus in public policy, planning or business preferred.

Skills

·        Possesses excellent research capabilities including data mining, mapping, and business analytics.

·        Maintains familiarity with economic development and real estate issues (preferred).

·        Demonstrates willingness to learn research database platforms such as JobsEQ, Cushman & Wakefield Marketbeat as well as customer relations platforms like Hubspot.

·        Demonstrates a detail-oriented and deadline-focused work ethic.

·        Possesses outstanding communication skills.

·        Serves as a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

·        Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Suite (required).

Additional information

·        A valid driver’s license and access to an automobile are required.

·        Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.

·        Physical requirements of this position include sitting at a desk over 90% of the time. Breaks to stand and stretch can be taken as needed. Compensation

To maximize the impact of the work to both the employee and our company, this position is intended to be a long-term, part-time position with an expected duration of nine months to one year with an hourly rate of $15 and an expected weekly hourly commitment of 20 hours.  This position is hybrid and will require some commute to the Choose New Jersey office in Newark, NJ.
