Overview
Internship Responsibilities: The intern will support a combination of archival, research, planning, and community development initiatives connected to the Civic League’s ongoing work within the Greater New Brunswick community. Responsibilities may include:
- Reviewing, organizing, and preserving decades of historical documents, photographs, and organizational records
- Assisting with the development of a structured digital archiving system to preserve organizational history and improve accessibility
- Helping transform historical materials into content that supports storytelling, donor engagement, and community awareness
- Researching community development trends, nonprofit best practices, and local needs impacting New Brunswick residents
- Supporting neighborhood and community-based research projects, including youth development, wellness, housing, and community engagement initiatives
- Assisting with strategic planning, program development, reports, presentations, and grant-related materials
Supporting organizational initiatives focused on expanding community programming and partnerships
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate or graduate student
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Interest in nonprofit work, community engagement, history, planning, or youth development
- Experience with research and digital tools (i.e. data organization systems, research and mapping tools) preferred but not required

Location: Hybrid (New Brunswick, NJ and remote)
Dates: June 1, 2026 – December 18, 2026
Compensation: $18/hour
Hours: Approximately 10 hours per week
Extension Opportunity: Potential opportunity to extend into 2027 based on organizational needs and intern performance
