Overview
Everytown for Gun Safety’s Community Safety Initiatives (CSI) team, focuses on scaling promising community-based violence intervention strategies via direct investment, capacity building and advocacy. We are seeking a Summer Intern to begin in June 2023. Everytown CSI leads Everytown’s Community Safety Fund, which has supported 72 community-based violence intervention organizations in 57 cities since 2019, the Everytown Community Training Institute which delivers capacity-building training to our grantees, elected officials and governmental agencies in partnership with national subject matter experts, and informs Everytown’s legislative advocacy at all levels of government, in support of the CVI field at large.
Successful candidates will support the selection of grantees, including research, analysis and engagement; help coordinate grantee convenings, stakeholder engagement and capacity building offerings; track registration and participation of program attendees; and support the development of written work product, marketing materials and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Principal Responsibilities
- Performs various administrative tasks related grants management, grantee engagement, data entry, report and presentation preparation, and record maintenance.
- Provide support to the Senior Director and Associate Director related to scheduling, presentation development, proofreading of talking points.
- Conduct research related to grant selection and gun violence trends.
- Support event planning, speaker booking and logistics.
- Support note-taking and meeting set-up for cross-departmental, cross-divisional, and external partner meetings.
- Support with the maintenance of the Community Safety Fund website and creation of other marketing materials.
- Drafting emails and content for external partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current graduate student or recent college graduate.
- Familiarity with video conferencing platforms.
- Excellent research, writing, and editing skills and outstanding attention to detail.
- Experience working with marginalized communities and survivors of trauma is a plus.
- A commitment to social justice.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Ability to perform in a fast-moving environment and to deliver timely and high-quality work.
- Strong work ethic, sense of humor, flexibility, creativity, and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work in a sometimes-hectic, open-plan office.
- Passion for Everytown’s mission of preventing gun violence in America.
The pay rate for this role is $25.00 per hour.
