Field Data Collector – Parcel Condition Survey

Overview

We are seeking detail-oriented and reliable Field Data Collectors to participate in our upcoming Parcel Condition Survey. This is a boots-on-the-ground role critical to the city’s urban planning and real estate development efforts. You will be assigned specific routes throughout Newark to visually inspect properties, assess their current exterior conditions, and log your findings using our mobile data collection software.

This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, care about the development of Newark’s neighborhoods, and want to play a direct part in the city’s revitalization.

 Navigate assigned routes across various Newark neighborhoods to locate specific land parcels.

Conduct exterior, visual inspections of vacant lots, abandoned structures, and other properties.
Accurately record condition data (e.g., structural integrity, overgrowth, dumping, fencing) using a smartphone or tablet-based application.
Take clear, high-quality photographs of each property to accompany the data logs.
Meet weekly data collection targets.
Communicate regularly with the Survey team regarding progress, technical issues, or site hazards.

Qualifications *

Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
Ability to walk several miles a day.
Tech-savvy; comfortable using mobile applications, GPS navigation, and taking digital photos.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
Reliable communication skills.
Must have a reliable personal smartphone/tablet  and transportation to get to assigned starting points.
