About Us

Keep Middlesex Moving, Inc. (KMM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving mobility options, reducing traffic congestion, and promoting sustainable transportation in Middlesex County, NJ. We work collaboratively with local businesses, municipalities, and community members to create a safer, cleaner, and more efficient transportation network.

Position Summary

The Transportation Program Intern will support the TMA’s initiatives by assisting with program development, data analysis, outreach, and communications. This particular internship will be heavily project based. The intern will create toolkits for students/community groups to use for safety and placemaking activities to show all students and teachers that their built-in environment is an important space that they can measure and help to change through data driven presentations. The intern will also assist with the development of a how to guide and perform outreach to schools and youth groups.

This idea was a result of some students a local Middlesex County school getting hit by a car as they crossed the street at a crosswalk directly in front of the school. This activated a deep desire by the student council to make changes within their neighborhood and understand that process. In the day-to-day interactions of KMM with other schools, the need for this type of activity became more evident.

KMM will work with constituent schools and its municipalities such as the city of New Brunswick to do a demonstration project with equipment provided by KMM in the form of a tool kit maintained by KMM. KMM will work with the students at the Greater Brunswick Charter School, but this tool kit will be used in the county’s other school systems to encourage awareness and local activities.
