The City of Lexington’s Division of Planning is seeking a talented individual to join a team focused on the development of an equitable and sustainable community. Boasting a diverse population and vibrant community, Lexington has a long history of innovative planning practices, including the nation’s first Urban Service Area and progressive zoning legislation on issues such as parking, urban forestry, open space, and accessory dwelling units (ADUs). It is the goal of the Division of Planning to continue to develop growth strategies to serve a city that prioritizes progressive zoning reform.

You will join the Long-Range Planning team responsible for implementing Lexington’s recently adopted Comprehensive Plan which calls for incorporating sustainable development best practices into land use regulations. This position is responsible for preparing community engagement strategies and integrating a wide range of perspectives into proposed policies, plans, and studies. While a formal urban planning background is not required, you should desire to be highly engaged in the mission of long-range planning, policy and code reform, and community engagement.

If you are interested in joining an innovative team seeking to develop a better community for all, please check out our job posting.
