Overview
The Middlesex County Office of Planning is seeking a highly motivated graduate student to assist the Transportation and Mobility Group.
The selected candidate will assist with several functional plans that are being prepared to operationalize Destination 2040, including a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update, the Greenways Guide, an update to County Right-of-Way Plan, and other initiatives. Additionally, the selected candidate may be assigned to specific implementation initiatives of the County’s Vision Zero Plan which include assisting in road safety audits, policy updates, tracking fatalities and injuries on County roads, new project concepts, among other tasks.
Preference will be given to students with a transportation planning focus. Spatial data skills/experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and graphics production software are preferred. Candidates must be able to write technical reports exhibiting clarity and accuracy. Familiarity with technical drawings is preferred.
The selected candidate must possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
The position is hourly at a rate of 20 dollars per hour, with a minimum commitment of 10 hours and a maximum of 35 hours per week through Fall 2026. There is also potential for the internship to be extended, pending budget availability.
