Summer Internship Seeking Virtual Intern

As an intern at NJ TRANSIT, you will oversee projects from concepts to completion. Our interns are steps away from having the opportunity at a hands-on experience with several business units within NJ TRANSIT. Objective of this role:

Assist in the Grants Administration and Compliance unit preparing grant applications for the FTA, as well as other funding agencies, assuring statutory, planning, and administrative requirements are met before grant applications are submitted.
Provide technical assistance and guidance reviewing federally required documentation and reports for completeness and compliance with federal requirements. Coordinate, compile information, and write the documents and reports required by FTA, as well as providing technical assistance to project managers. Draft correspondence to FTA regarding federally funded capital projects and compliance issues. 
Monitor FTA website for new or revised rules and regulations, write compliance guidance, and notify appropriate NJ TRANSIT personnel as needed. Establish and revise funding in CPAS, TRAMs, NJCFS, GA&C capital funding database, and will enter quarterly reports in TRAMs, as well as perform other grant related functions. 
Assist with the annual flexing of FHWA High Priority Projects, FHWA, CMAQ and FHWA STP funds to FTA. Coordinate with senior level NJDOT staff to develop obligation strategy to flex funds to FTA and will assist with the STIP/TIP amendment process and Year End Obligation Report.
Prepare formula grant applications and other components in the State Transportation Improvement Program/Electronic State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP/E-STIP) Database/Modifications/Funding Modules) with grant submissions to the Federal Transit Administration; Quarterly Reporting; Real Estate correspondence; and other miscellaneous/ training/ organizational tasks. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

Junior or Senior
Majoring in Business, Communications/Public Information/Finance
Basic number skills, organizational skills, writing skills, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access skills
Experience a plus but not needed
Working Environment:

Hybrid schedule at this time
