Job Description Summary

The Senior Manager is responsible for: 1) understanding and monitoring any potential City Zoning Resolution and its impact to the SCA; 2) flagging issues to others in the agency and gather feedback; 3) conveying SCA’s position to City Hall and other City agencies; and 4) supporting the Chief of Staff in all land use matters.

Responsibilities include:

•Exceptional understanding of the workings of City government, governmental policy, and legislation.  Work would involve engagement with State elected officials and proposed legislation. Existing relationships from prior experience is a plus.

•Excellent communication skills; including engagement with City & State agencies to facility SCA projects approvals . The ability to engage community partners and elected officials and to explain technical matters to the public in a clear and understandable way.

•Coordination with other divisions within SCA, particularly Capital Plan Management, Architecture/Engineering Division & Construction Management to problem-solve and to alert the Executive Office to any potential political, financial or schedule issues that could delay a Capacity or Capital Project.

•Be able to understand the basics of State Environmental Quality Review process and documents including the review of these documents and the ability to flag issues to others in the agency and to convey SCA’s position to City Hall and other City agencies.

•Be able to understand the basics of City Zoning Resolution with a cursory understanding of Design and Construction to better convey the SCA’s position to the DOE and City and State agencies that the Agency regularly engages with.

•Ability to work on short deadlines and balance a high volume of projects with differing schedules. Ensure accuracy, quality and appropriateness of Division documents which can include summary or status reports, evaluations & presentations.

•Work with Chief of Staff and others to organize special events and priority projects of the Executive Office. Superior organization and problem solving skills.

•Performs duties, as assigned by the Chief of Staff or others in the Executive Office.
