Position Summary

Pace Suburban Bus is looking to hire an Associate Planner for their Chief Planning Office.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Service Planning Supervisor, plans, implements, and evaluates changes in routes and services, primarily for smaller garages or operating entities, using various data sources; analyzes route and service performance data to recommend service improvements, reductions, or adjustments; is involved in multiple planning tasks and projects such as land use, corridor, service, and restructuring studies and initiatives, typically as part of a cross-functional team; assists in the development of public materials related to the planning and scheduling of routes and services; participates in the Posted Stops project; attends public meetings; conducts field work to review current service and plan new service; investigates and responds to inquiries about the planning or scheduling of routes and services; and performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. 
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning, transportation planning, or other related field, with a focus in transit planning (a master’s degree in one of the aforementioned fields is preferred), and a minimum of one year of experience in transit planning or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position will be considered. 
  • Must have excellent computer skills and be proficient with the following software applications: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ArcGIS/Map. 
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; excellent data analysis, logic, and computer skills; outstanding time and project management skills; and the ability to produce accurate work and meet deadlines with minimum supervision. 
  • This position requires the ability to lift and carry 10 pounds.

Preferred:

  • American Institute of Certified Planners certification is preferred. 
  • Knowledge of IBS Bus Operations, Tableau, Ridecheck, and Hastus is preferred. 

Work Environment

Most work is performed in a professional office environment. However, work is occasionally conducted at Pace garages, in the field, and at other facilities/locations within the Pace service area.
