PLANNING INTERN
PASSAIC COUNTY PLANNING & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Passaic County Department of Planning and Economic Development is seeking a Summer Planning intern. The intern will provide assistance on a wide range of transportation and land use projects.
Interested candidates should be enrolled or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in planning or closely related field. Applicants should have familiarity with topics such as transportation planning, bicycle and pedestrian planning, complete streets, sustainability and green infrastructure, historic preservation, and economic development.
Tasks will include assisting planning staff with several ongoing programs and technical studies including the County’s Complete Streets Implementation Program, the County’s Strategic Infrastructure Investment Plan, Open Space grant program, and several bike and pedestrian implementation projects. Responsibilities will also include assistance on North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) grants and ongoing transportation planning activities associated with the annual Subregional Transportation Planning (STP) program.
The intern will need to be available a minimum of two (2) days a week up to a maximum of five (5) days/week in the Planning office located at 401 Grand Street in Paterson, NJ. The salary is $20.00 /hour. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license.

The Planning and Economic Development Department serves as the staff resource for the Board of County Commissioners, the Passaic County Planning Board, Passaic County Agriculture Development Board, and the Open Space, Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund Advisory Committee. Planning and Economic Development also administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
The department facilitates the development and redevelopment of communities that offer citizens a high quality of life by meeting their needs for employment, affordable housing, efficient transportation, and access to leisure, recreational and cultural opportunities. The department provides a process that assists citizens and community leaders in directing future changes in the county.
