Department Summary

The Research Team is a group of policy specialists who investigate and write about budget and economic policies in the United States. The team also develops and oversees grants to a variety of external partners. In recent months, the team has published analyses of some of the major budget proposals before the Congress, worked with leading policy analysts from think tanks across the political spectrum to develop analyses of major policy issues, and prepared primers for the public.

 

Position Summary
The Foundation offers a part-time spring internship in its New York City office. The internship is intended for students enrolled in graduate programs in public policy, though undergraduates in their senior year majoring in related disciplines may also apply. Interns will be expected to work 12-20 hours per week.

 

Research interns provide analytical support to the Foundation’s overall operations. Depending on qualifications, experience, and interest, interns will participate in the following types of activities:

  • Ongoing tracking of current economic and legislative developments, news, and trends important to inform the work of the Foundation.
  • Research and data analysis on relevant policy issues.
  • Creation of Foundation-generated content for distribution through multiple channels (digital, print, video, appearances, etc.).

 

Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong research, analytical, writing, and organizational skills. Prior coursework in economics, finance, or public policy is required. All candidates should have a proven ability to translate complex information into clear and accessible language. Research interns must be able to work independently and collaboratively, and be able to juggle priorities in a fast-changing work environment.

 

In order to build productive relationships across the organization and to ensure effective collaboration, this role requires in-person presence in accordance with the organization’s hybrid schedule of working in the office three days per week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday).

 

Spring Internship

Internship dates: January to May (flexible with school calendars)

 

Salary

We anticipate that the hourly rate for this position will be $17 to $18 per hour.
