Job DescriptionAn individual who contributes to the research programs of the University under supervision of a Principal Investigator, and holds a post-graduate degree appropriate to the field of research, or an equivalent combination of education and advanced research experience as appropriate to the field of expertise. Research will focus on policy and management practices related to access to care, productivity, staffing, and quality measurement. Research Scientist will contribute to the Partnered Evidence-Based policy Resource Center’s (PEPReC) mission in providing data analysis support in the development of high-priority policy, planning and management initiatives.

Essential Functions

  1. Supervise Data Analysts, Post-doctoral Fellows and Graduate Fellows who extract healthcare data from the VA corporate data warehouse environment and conduct exploratory and descriptive data analyses (35%)
  2. Conduct advanced statistical modeling investigations (25%)
  3. Write manuscripts and reports, and create presentations (20%)
  4. Communicate with operations and research partners (20%)

Required SkillsMinimum Requirements:Must have PhD in Health Services Research, Economics, or related policy-oriented field and 2 years of experience extracting data and performing exploratory descriptive data analyses; performing data analysis planning, statistical modeling and execution of analysis plans; performing literature and database review related to health care, policy and management; writing manuscripts and reports; and communicating with research partners.
