Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled part-time research assistant to join our team. The position could be hybrid or fully remote, and offers $20-$30 per hour for 10-15 hours per week. The research assistant will work under the supervision of our Research Director and collaborate with other team members as part of Resource Justice, a policy research initiative of the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation (RSF). They will contribute to all aspects of the research process, in pursuit of our mission of ‘Advancing equitable resource use through responsive research’.
The successful candidate will be a graduate student or graduate degree holder in policy, economics, urban planning, environmental policy, or a related field with experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, a passion for economic equity, a flare for creative research design, and excellent writing skills. The position will commence in June, 2023 (exact start date is flexible).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct background research for projects, help prepare project proposals
- Gather, clean, and analyze data (with supervisor support)
- Write research briefs and white papers
- Work with the team to design and promote research projects and findings
Necessary Qualifications:
- Graduate degree holder or student in policy, economics, urban planning, environmental policy, or a related field
- Experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to thrive in a fully remote role
- Commitment to economic equity
Desirable Qualifications:
- Interest in environmental and/or tax policy
- Experience with statistical software
- Experience with GIS
- Familiarity with concepts related to governance of natural resources
- Ability to work in our Princeton, NJ office one day per week
