Overview

Planning and Development manages transportation planning and land use planning statewide across the University. Planning and Development also supports Transportation Services by evaluating and recommending enhancements to the University bus system, annual bus service outreach efforts, and bicycle and pedestrian improvements on campus. Planning and Development coordinates with GIS Services where necessary to utilize GIS data to support planning projects and presentations.

The planning intern will support these efforts by assisting in field work, typically taking the form of site analysis, traffic observations, and building walkthroughs. The intern may also support transportation outreach initiatives, such as assisting with survey promotion and data analysis, intercept events, and social media education and engagement.  
This internship will be based out of the Institutional Planning & Operations offices at 33 Knightsbridge Road in Piscataway, NJ. The internship will be up to 37.5 hours per week. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Must be current Rutgers student (undergraduate or graduate)
– Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
– Ability to work independently and coordinate with a team
– Understand and articulate general planning principles, especially in regards to transportation planning, site review, and land use planning
– Some experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop 
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (preferred but not required)
– Experience with ArcGIS software, especially ArcMap and/or ArcPRO

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
– This position will require both deskwork in an office environment and work in the field to perform data collection and observations on and around campus. 
– This position requires prolonged standing and walking. 
– This position will require driving to various parts of campus. A valid driver’s license is required.

COMPENSATION – $23/hour
