Overview
Communities First Initiative (CFI) is a statewide, women-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1994 to promote social, racial, and economic justice. CFI’s mission is to serve and empower low- and moderate-income seniors, families, students, young adults, and individuals with disabilities by providing education and direct services that promote financial stability, healthy lifestyles, food security, and community belonging.
We will be hiring several Summer Associates to participate in the Anti-Hunger Corps VISTA program, which will begin on June 15, 2026. This 10-week program offers a $3,000 stipend and additional benefits and it requires participants to have access to a car.
Key Responsibilities
- Enhancing capacity and sustainability of the Summer Food Service Program
- Creating and distributing educational materials for the Summer Food Service Program
- Boosting participation in USDA Summer EBT program for families with children
- Working with a diverse group of low and moderate-income seniors, families, and individuals
- Helping SNAP recipients comply with new work reporting requirements
- Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers & supporting nutrition-related educational activities
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- NJ Driver’s License & access to a vehicle
