Overview
CNYCA is hiring for two full-time roles: a Labor Market Analyst and a NYC Fiscal Policy Analyst.
The Center for New York City Affairs at The New School is an applied policy research institute that drives innovation in policy. The Economic and Fiscal Policy program conducts research and writing on local and state economic and fiscal policies that improve the lives of New York City’s low- and moderate-income communities. The program’s goal is to produce research to support a range of policy interventions – including improving work opportunities and pay standards, strengthening social safety net policies like unemployment insurance, and making infrastructure investments in such areas as universal childcare. Our work combines economic analysis with actionable policy responses to address structural issues undergirding racial and economic disparities.
We seek candidates who understand that access to good, quality jobs are a critical strategy to decreasing income inequality and facilitating equitable economic growth in the United States. We seek candidates who are passionate about producing evidence and arguments to combat worker exploitation. We seek candidates who are interested in fiscal policy as a tool and understand that local policy matters.
Candidates should have a passion for New York City and for using their quantitative research skills for the public good. Therefore, candidates should also have the ability to translate their research findings into writing or presentations accessible to a wide range of audiences.
